Sophie is a wonderful member of our family. My husband got her as a surprise gift for the home. We also have a cat that plays well with Sophie & I have 2 kids (5 & 11) Sophie loves the children. She has fun at the dog park & plays well with the other dogs. They call this dog a 'Velcro Dog' lol. Divorce is started & Sophie needs a partner for walks/runs/dog park time/lots of TLC with people. I love Sophie & feel she deserves all the fun outdoor exercise she needs. She has a lot of energy & can destroy ANY dog toy. I was always home with the children & the dog but now the dog would be left alone all day. She needs a owner who has TIME & love ... (Read More)to devote. She is very loving & playful. I will be extremely picky on choosing a family for her. She has all her papers (AKC & is also chipped) YES! She was already fixed as soon as the time came so she is NOT a $ breeding machine. This is truly something I do not want to do but need to think of what is best for her. We love her & want her to be happy. Thank You! (Less)

My name is Chloe and I am a lovely, 6-year-old female. My family was unable to keep me after a move into an apartment complex. The great folks at GLWR took me and placed me in a wonderful foster home, but what I really want is a forever home of my very own! I love to play and I am always ready to please! I know all my commands and I am filled with love to give to my new family. Please come meet your new best friend, ME!

Are you familiar with EC (the musician)? If so, you will understand my name, Layla. I am my foster parents forbidden love. Although, I do recall them calling me Luci(fer) a few times too. HA! So, here is my story: I am living proof that good things really do come in small packages. I am a sweet and petite, 5-6-year-old female who has come to appreciate the good things in life. You see, I was once a mommy in a puppy mill and life there was not very good. Fortunately for me, I was retired from the puppy business and the good folks at GLWR took me in and found me a really nice foster family. They showed me just how great house living can be ... (Read More)and I am loving it! I get to free roam all through the house, and have a big comfy chair where I like to nap. I do not like my crate any more. I have a foster sister and brother who helped me learn the rules, and we get along like peas and carrots. I will admit that I had my stretch where I snarled at them when I had to share love and space, but now all is good. I have a doggie door at my foster home so I can go potty outside whenever I need which really helped with my potty training. When I arrived at my foster home, I was frightened by every noise, person and situation but my foster family exposed me to lots of people and places which helped me gain my confidence. My foster mom has a home-based business so I meet a lot of folks who enter my home. I also go to the dog park almost every day to meet and greet people and pups. I like all people, large and small, and most dogs. I do have a few issues with dogs that try to dominate me or any of my canine siblings. I am DONE with the mounting thing!! Get my drift? You might think that I am a ball of fire after being cooped up in a crate for a lot of my early life, but I have learned that hanging out in the house and napping are more my style. I love a slow walk with lots of sniffing and pee breaks. I do not like running and other than a few short zooms in the yard or at the park, I never tear it up outside. I do have a boyfriend in our neighborhood that I love to see on my walks. We get to romp together whenever we meet. It is really special! So, as much as I love my foster sister and brother, I would be OK as an only dog as well. That way I would be sure to get 100 percent of your love and treats. I would like to live with other fun-loving and well-socialized canines, so hopefully you can make arrangements for me to do that. If you are looking for sweet, mellow and pretty little gal, then make a date to come meet me! XO, Layla (Less)

Hi! I am a sweet, 4-year-old Weimy female named Rachel. I was found as a stray and ended up in an Ohio pound before the nice folks at GLWR rescued me. I was even named after the daughter of the volunteer that sprung me from the poky! I get along great with the other dogs but I can be a little guarded over my sticks in the yard, which is fairly common when you come from the mean streets. I am crate trained and have pretty good manners. I LOVE people, so much so that I can be a little jumpy sometimes. But I am totally open to working on that with you if you are willing to take the time to help me!. I am good with kids and a very happy girl ... (Read More)that can sometimes be excitable. I am a Weim after all. I just love to play with people and with other dogs and I cannot wait to find a family I can call my own. (Less)

Weimaraner Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chipper looks to be a Weim lab mix? He is a big dog, a beautiful chocolate silver color. I don't know how he ended up in a shelter. He is SUPER sweet, crate trained, walks on a leash and is just a wonderful easy boy. Traveled great on the 12 hour ride home from the shelter. Perfect with the other dogs and puppies. He loves to play! I seen his photo and couldn't leave him there to be killed even though we weren't sure how we would fit him in the mini van with all the others we were getting and as large as he is. As it was he fit just fine. He is very well behaved when crated. Since we had the mini van we figured we might as well save as many ... (Read More)as we could so we got 13 dogs out of nasty shelters. Chipper will be neutered and is now UTD on vaccinations before he is available. We can hold him with a deposit for the right family until he has been neutered when he will be available. A current or past Vet number, and a contract is required to adopt. If your seriously interested in Chipper please send vet information in first email to us. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Weimaraner in Illinois
Weimaraner Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Weimaraner is a graceful gray gun dog. Weimaraners are rowdy, happy dogs. Weimaraners need discipline and strong leadership from the very beginning. This is not a breed for an inexperienced owner. Weimaraners are very territorial. A Weimaraner needs to be with people. Weimaraners are excellent with children but should be supervised around little ones because of the energy and size of the dogs. A Weimaraner can live in an apartment if it has plenty of daily exercise.
