Charlie is a great dog. Loves to run and play. Has learned a few commands. Sit, down and gives fives. He loves kids. Seems to like some of our less dominate dogs at the shelter.

|Rescue Me ID: 15-10-21-00574Boomer (male)|
Boomer is a 5 year old male that our family adopted at 14 months from a couple that was not familiar with the breed . He lives with 8 humans yes we have a big family and a 9yr old female German shorthair pointer that he gets along great with. He is extremely territorial and probably not good with dogs he doesn't know.. We have had an incident where he bite (no broken skin) an unannounced visitor , he's not good with people unless he knows them , with that said we love the breed and love him but a busy household is not the right place for this magnificent dog , he needs the right home ! We are experienced with Weims (our 3rd ) and know he will make an amazing companion to the right owner. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-10-20-00455Libby (female)|
Hello! My name is Libby and I am a very beautiful, five-ish-year-old girl. I came to Senior Moments Weimaraner Rescue from a kill-shelter in Ohio. (The folks at the shelter were a little confused, and by the time SMW realized I was not a senior, they were committed to helping me and didn't back out.) Whew! I'm so happy for all of that! I'm being fostered right now in northern Illinois. My foster family thinks I would do best in a home with no children, dogs or cats. I am working on my social skills, but I am definitely an alpha! I have two foster sisters, and we get along fine. Sophie likes to be around me, and isn't bothered by my assertive personality - she just pushes back when she's had enough. Savanna, on the other hand, avoids me most of the time and doesn't put up with any of my pushiness. With any new dogs, well, look out - I want to let them know I'm in charge. (My foster parents actually think I'm scared and over-compensating, and we're working on it with a trainer.) I am not allowed to go to the dog park as it is just too much new stuff for me. On walks, (one of my favorite things) my family tries to avoid other dogs or strange people, and make me sit if any other dogs or people are going to cross paths with us. When my foster parents are at work, I share a large bedroom with my foster sisters for up to 10 hours. I'm really glad my foster Mom is done teaching so I have more company during the day and play time! My foster parents think I am the sweetest and most loyal dog in the house with them. I just about shake my tail off when Mom gets home, and then anxiously watch out the window for my foster Dad to come home next! I like playing catch and tug-o-war. Although I love my foster family, I can be protective of my space inside or outside. My foster parents are teaching me that I need to follow their commands and be more tolerant. I get really excited when company comes over and I am learning to control my excitedness and jumpiness. I am a real good dog who needs a strong and confident owner. I have free run of the house when my foster family is home. I do not need a crate. I do like to counter surf so my foster parents know to not leave any food out (I'm a Weim, after all!). I start giving lots of attention when I need to go out. Being in a routine of going out, eating, playing and learning through positive training is what is best for me. Please go to seniormomentsweimaraners.com for adoption information. My adoption donation is $250. I'm looking forward to meeting you! Love, Libby XOXOXO (Less)

Weimaraner Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Weimaraner is a graceful gray gun dog. Weimaraners are rowdy, happy dogs. Weimaraners need discipline and strong leadership from the very beginning. This is not a breed for an inexperienced owner. Weimaraners are very territorial. A Weimaraner needs to be with people. Weimaraners are excellent with children but should be supervised around little ones because of the energy and size of the dogs. A Weimaraner can live in an apartment if it has plenty of daily exercise.
