Hello! My name is Zar and I am a handsome, 1-year-old, male Weim! My birthday is coming soon and in September I will be two! I am hoping to be in my forever home to celebrate with my new family! My foster mom describes me as very sweet and lovable! I am a small boy only weighing about 45 pounds. I really enjoy taking walks and I do not bother with squirrels, birds or bunnies because I am too busy exploring the world! Just being a regular dog is all new to me. A not-so-nice breeder left me overnight at a shelter and the nice folks at GLWR agreed to help me find a home! I am great with other dogs, big or small, and I bonded quickly to my foster sister who is a Cocker Spaniel. I have not been introduced to a cat so I am not sure if I like them or not but we do have 2 parrots in the house and I do not mind them at all. I am house broken and enjoy spending time in the backyard soaking in the sun or playing fetch with the ball. I am still a puppy at times and forget to give the ball back but we are working on this! I am crate trained, but I have not shown any signs of separation anxiety and enjoy having my kong filled with treats when left for a long time to keep me busy. I have been left to roam the house and I have been doing well and not getting into any trouble. I love snuggling with my foster mom on the couch after a walk or at the end of a long day. I do not bark unless I hear someone at the door and I am not aggressive at all food or otherwise. My foster mom has taught me the basic commands and I will sit, stay, come, wait, and even shake paws with her! I am food motivated and enjoy my treats. I would love to find an active couple that enjoys the outdoors or a family with older children. Small children make me nervous as they move too quickly. I would really love a home with another dog that is not too pushy or aggressive. I like a mellow, playful companion. I will need a family who is patient and understands I take time to warm up to people I do not know, especially men. I have come a long way in my journey to find a family and I will make a wonderful lifelong companion! I am located in Illinois and I am anxious to meet my forever family! (Less)

Hi my name is Hunter, but my foster Mom calls me an angel. I was surrendered to this kind rescue group by my original owners who did not have time for me anymore (no, I don't get that either), so you'll notice I want A LOT of attention! I will soon be 12 years old, but don't think for a minute that I'm elderly! I'm in great shape and my only medical issue is some of those fatty tumors my breed is prone to get. My foster Mom took me to have them checked out by the Dog Doctor and he gave the OK (i.e. no cancer). I do have one under my left armpit that gets in my way a bit but doesn't slow me down. I have learned from my foster Mom to share attention with my foster sisters (all three of them!); at first I was kinda hogging the attention with a little growl, but I learned that it is not a good thing to do. I LOVE to have attention, but I get along with the girls really well. I will follow you everywhere, will want to lay in your lap often (all 65 pounds of me!), and will want to sleep with you (I REALLY want to be under your covers and am just not comfortable until I'm there). I will sleep in a dog bed on the floor if you ask me to, but you may find me in bed with you when you wake up in the morning. Also, did I say I LOVE to have attention? I am friendly with everyone (although I did growl at the Dog Doctor very briefly until I realized he was OK). I am house trained (although foster Mom was not pleased that I marked my spot a couple times my first week). I stand at the door if I need to go out to potty, but I like my foster Mom to come with me because I don't want to miss a minute with her. If she isn't there I don't take as much time to potty like I should. I do come when called, can sit, lay down and paw on command. I don't counter surf (but am slightly interested in it - who wouldn't be?), and I settle well in the house. I have plenty of energy if you'd be so kind to walk and run with me (I'm very strong and need work on my leash manners though). I also love a good game of fetch. I'm being fostered in Illinois. If you could use an angel in your house, I'd like to apply for the job! Let Senior Moments Weims know that you'd like to meet me by filling out the adoption application at senior-moments-weimaraners.com. I look forward to meeting you! XOXO Hunter (Less)

Weimaraner Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Weimaraner is a graceful gray gun dog. Weimaraners are rowdy, happy dogs. Weimaraners need discipline and strong leadership from the very beginning. This is not a breed for an inexperienced owner. Weimaraners are very territorial. A Weimaraner needs to be with people. Weimaraners are excellent with children but should be supervised around little ones because of the energy and size of the dogs. A Weimaraner can live in an apartment if it has plenty of daily exercise.
