LOOKING FOR A TEMPORARY HOME ONLY. My husband and I are being transferred to Indonesia for one year. We looked into trying to bring Scout with us, but the extremely long trip, 4 week holding period and limited housing options do not make bringing her feasible. We don't have family that can take her in. We would like to find someone to foster her for a year who understands Weimaraners - they are a particular breed and Scout has her quirks. We hope our posting is only for one year and that Scout will be alive and well and ready to come home upon our return. She will be 12 on Jan. 12 and we recognize this might be a bad year for her. We will cover all vet costs, including regular shots, flea/tick and check ups and food. We will work with whomever we find to make sure the situation is healthy and fair for both dog and foster family. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-07-18-00184Uni (female)|
Uni is just over 8 years old. We have owned her since she was 8 weeks old. She was originally rescued from a shelter in Indiana when she had been found in a dump with her mother and other puppies. She has had increased aggressive behaviors since we had children 2 years ago. She has never bit but has had many close calls. She gives warnings to back off which we understand but children do not so we have decided we need to rehome her. She guards food and items. She has lived with a small pug and a cat since she was young but she would do best as an only pet. She has some chronic medical problems and takes an allergy pill daily, a leaky bladder pill, and has recently started on prozac due to these behaviors. She also has colitis and intermittent diarrhea which is controlled normally with her prescribed diet Purina EN and occasional bland rice. We love her dearly and have discussed euthanasia with our vet but would really love to give her another chance to live out her golden years. (Less)

Weimaraner Dogs can make good pets in Massachusetts if they match your IifestyIe. The Weimaraner is a graceful gray gun dog. Weimaraners are rowdy, happy dogs. Weimaraners need discipline and strong leadership from the very beginning. This is not a breed for an inexperienced owner. Weimaraners are very territorial. A Weimaraner needs to be with people. Weimaraners are excellent with children but should be supervised around little ones because of the energy and size of the dogs. A Weimaraner can live in an apartment if it has plenty of daily exercise.
