Rescue Me ID: 16-10-16-00280Blue (male)

Weimaraner    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I am a very smart, energetic, 6 yr old Weimaraner. I know all of the basic commands. For exercise, I like to run alongside my owner's bike/rollerblades or play a game of fetch. I am really good at tracking down hidden tennis balls and retrieving. I won't give up. I am okay on a leash as long as the pace is vigorous. Since my owners are adding to their pack with a new baby, they are looking for a better home suited to my high energy needs. I would be okay with kids over the age of 4 or 5. I am okay with some dogs. I am well trained on an e-collar and am good at coming when you call my name. I will be a faithful friend to you follow ... (Read More)you everywhere you go. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-09-00073Lizzie (female)

Weimaraner    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lizzie is a truly sweet girl. She is fully house trained and knows how to use a doggie door to let herself into a fenced yard. She is good on a leash. She obeys commands well. She was brought up to date on all of her vaccinations the 1st week in October 2016. She tested negative for heart worm. She has a large, fatty cyst on her back. We had a biopsy done at the time of her vaccinations & it was found to be benign. It does not pose a health risk. She is prone to ear infections, which is typical for her breed. She is currently on a stringent dose of antibiotics and steroids to deal with a current ear infection. Lizzie is great with ... (Read More)children. She is also good with other dogs, but may try to establish dominance with other female dogs in the home. She loves to play & wrestle with our male boxer/Am Staff. We took Lizzy in from a friend who could no longer care for her due to a cancer diagnosis. Shortly after we took her in, we were informed that in order to have 3 dogs on our farm, we were required to get a kennel license. This is the reason that we are choosing to adopt her out. If you are interested in adopting Lizzie, a home check will be required as in most adoption agency policies. If you live in an apartment or condominium, a letter from your landlord or association approving you to have a dog of her size will be required. Having a fenced yard is preferred but not required. Pictures will be uploaded soon. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Weimaraner in Minnesota
Weimaraner Dogs can make good pets in Minnesota if they match your IifestyIe. The Weimaraner is a graceful gray gun dog. Weimaraners are rowdy, happy dogs. Weimaraners need discipline and strong leadership from the very beginning. This is not a breed for an inexperienced owner. Weimaraners are very territorial. A Weimaraner needs to be with people. Weimaraners are excellent with children but should be supervised around little ones because of the energy and size of the dogs. A Weimaraner can live in an apartment if it has plenty of daily exercise.
