Rescue Me ID: 14-12-15-00372Rue (female)

Weimaraner    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Fearful/Anxious

Rue is our loved and very loving dog daughter. However, we are a growing family of (human) kids and have been feeling that Rue needs more love and attention than we can give anymore. We'd like to find her a new home before our LO is attached. Ideally she'll be adopted by an upland bird hunter as she has been trained professionally (hunting & obedience) at Dockens and will come highly skilled and passionately ready to hunt. She has allergies that we are currently giving her Dinovite for and suffers from separation anxiety. She does well with kidos and some dogs. She's 60 pounds, a good running partner, and beautiful. I know this is best but ... (Read More)she will be missed! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-15-00095Millie (female)

Weimaraner Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi!! I'm Millie! Here's a little update from me. When I first came into rescue, I had to have surgery to fix my dislocated hip along with a lot of other basic vetting. Since then I've been recovering nicely in my foster home. I've opened up a lot since then and love to play with toys and my foster sisters. I'm great with other dogs and humans of all sizes. I love to give kisses and lay by my foster mom on the couch. I'm pretty unique because I have one blue eye and one brown eye! Some people think that means I'm blind in that eye or that I'm deaf, but I seem to see and hear just fine (except when I'm following my nose around the yard!). I'm ... (Read More)still working on gaining weight because I came into rescue pretty skinny. I'm also working on being more comfortable in my kennel and being home alone without my humans. My foster mom says I'm getting better at it. Sometimes I like to chew on things I'm not supposed to but a simple correction reminds me not to do that. I'm working on some basic commands and have already learned down. Would you like to add me to your family? I would love to curl up on the couch with you and cuddle with you and keep your feet warm! You should meet me! I promise I won't disappoint! Love, Millie! Millie is located near Omaha, NE (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-31-00164Ginger (female)

Weimaraner    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ginger is a wonderful dog. I love her very much, but recently she has begun to get agresive with children. Seeing we have two plus neighbor children who come over I am fearful for the safety of the kids. She would be wonderful for a person or family with no children. I love her very much and will not allow her to go to a bad home. I just fear that she will bite a child and don't know what else to do.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Weimaraner in Minnesota
Weimaraner Dogs can make good pets in Minnesota if they match your IifestyIe. The Weimaraner is a graceful gray gun dog. Weimaraners are rowdy, happy dogs. Weimaraners need discipline and strong leadership from the very beginning. This is not a breed for an inexperienced owner. Weimaraners are very territorial. A Weimaraner needs to be with people. Weimaraners are excellent with children but should be supervised around little ones because of the energy and size of the dogs. A Weimaraner can live in an apartment if it has plenty of daily exercise.

Weimaraners are named after the Grand Duke of Weimar, who enjoyed hunting with this breed of dog. The intelligence of the Weimaraner has earned it the nickname, Dog With a Human Brain. Dogs similar to the Weimaraner existed in France in the 1200s in the court of Louis IX.
