Rescue Me ID: 15-07-25-00108Vanessa (female)

Weimaraner Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Vanessa is a 6 year old spayed female Weimeraner/Hound mix. She is loyal and friendly and wonderful with children. Unfortunately due to circumstances, she must be re-homed. She has all of her shots and has no illnesses that we know of. Her history is that she was unethically bred as a hunting dog in Arkansas but for some reason or another didn't pass her 'field test' so the breeders got rid of her. She found her way to NH where we adopted her. These are her 'cons' so to speak: She will bark a lot if she is left unattended and has access to the front of your house. This is her protecting her turf and she will bark at people walking by ... (Read More)if you are close to the street, or the mailman, or the UPS guy, or your neighbor. Living away from the road is best. If you are home with her, she won't bark at all. If you have another dog, she needs to warm up to him/her. For some reason she is very nervous and needs to be introduced slowly. The same goes for a cat. She presently lives with two cats and she doesn't even bother with them, but a new cat out in the yard or anywhere else, her instinct is to chase it. She has never gone to the bathroom in the house and does not destroy furniture. She is energetic and loving and loves attention. With the right person she can be a great companion (Less)
